Cooking your own meals allows you to be in control.
Cooking feeds your body, mind, and soul. It allows you to control the nourishment you put into your body, connect with your family and friends over a home cooked meal, discover new foods and save the money you might otherwise spend in restaurants or on processed, prepackaged foods. Believe it or not, making simple and satisfying meals from scratch doesn’t have to be hard.
I was the type of person that didn't really like to cook and considered it an inconvenience and a chore. I looked at it this way because I was always stressed and felt that it took up too much time that could be better spent doing something else. I was notorious for using boxed or frozen foods that were easy to heat in the microwave or oven. Yes, I would make a salad and/or veggie as well but convenience was the goal. It wasn't until I realized how stuffed with what I call 'negative ingredients' prepackaged foods were that I started really cooking. By that I mean using whole, unprocessed ingredients and cooking from scratch. I learned to cook large portions so we had leftovers and could essentially cook once but eat two or three times more. This also helps me to spend less time on cooking if I'm time crunched and reduces any stress I might be feeling.
I have since revised my opinion of cooking; I enjoy creating meals with ingredients I've never tried before, trying new things is empowering and satisfying. The more I cook the more comfortable I am in the kitchen and with trying new techniques. I will help you to find the space in your life for cooking healthy and nutritious meals for you and your family.
Here are some of my favorite easy, healthy recipes. I'm sure you’ll find that eating well can also be delicious!
